QUICK Q&A:  ANGIE PRELL, TARTAN SENIOR TRACK

You are the Athena Award winner for your school. How special is that? The recognition feels really good. They don't give it out to everyone.

You have played three sports -- volleyball, gymnastics and track and field. Which is your favorite? Gymnastics. It's so different from all the other sports.

You left gymnastics for awhile. Why did you come back this year? Gymnastics can be really hard on the body. I gave it up, but the coach [at Tartan] kept asking me if I was going to come back. So I did this year because it was my senior year.

What are your track events? I do the long jump, the100 meter dash, the 4x200 relay and the 4x100 relay.

Do you have a favorite? Probably the 4x200. It's not just an individual event. You get to work with teammates.

Any pre-meet superstitions? I always wear two sports bras and listen to Justin Bieber.

Why did you choose Bemidji State for college? I kind of like being out away from things. I deer hunt and I like to go fishing.

Ever bagged a deer? One time, my dad and I were sitting on a hill. I heard a noise that I thought was a squirrel, but I then I saw the white tail. I asked my dad "What do I do?" He said, "Do what you're supposed to do."

You got it, I assume? Yes. When I went up to it, I could see the shot was perfect. I wouldn't gut it, though. I let my dad do that.
