Tom Ryan

QUICK Q&A:  TOM RYAN, LAKEVILLE SOUTH SENIOR

Ryan recently completed his career as a three-sport athlete at Lakeville South with a third-place finish in the shot put at the Class 2A track and field state meet at Hamline University. He was a South Suburban all-conference left tackle on the football team and also wrestled for the Cougars. Here is a closer look at Ryan:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Avengers."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Psychosocial" by Slipknot; "Holy Diver" by Dio; "Be Yourself" by Audioslave.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Intense; aggressive; courageous.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... very intimidated by my offensive line coach.

What is your favorite meal before a game or meet? I fast for competition.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? Lakeville North. The school split has left us fighting to see who is the baddest cat in Lakeville.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? Make rugby a high school sport.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? NDSU [North Dakota State University]. GO BISON! [Ryan's future college destination].

Do you have a secret talent -- and if so, what is it? Disc golf.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... still physically active, maybe competing in some sport, maybe starting a family.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? To leave it all out there, so you have no regrets, because you honestly gave everything you could.
